Research suggests that ¾ children with learning difficulties have inadequate social interactions as a result of delayed social and communication development. Social interaction is the only prerequisite to communication. For this reason, The Speech Pathology Centre utilizes group therapy as a means of enhancing and facilitating children's social interactions and communication skills.
The Speech Pathology Centre is an integrated developmental clinic that provides the following services:
- Speech and language assessment and consultation
- Language, articulation and social skills group therapy
- Individual and group occupational therapy
- Individual and group physiotherapy
- Literacy (e.g., reading, spelling, phonics) assessment and intervention
- Individual and group music appreciation classes
- Developmental screening
- Customised parent training programmes
